Welcome to Compassion Ministry
Bethel is a feeding station for a hot meal from Metropolitan Ministries, and a local distributor for USDA food commodities. If you are in need of these provisions please join us on Tuesdays @ 6pm. In conjunction with the meal and food giveaway, we provide a prayer service. For some of our guests, this is their only church. We feed and give food away at the church, and we also have a team that takes meals to homeless at several stops in downtown Tampa.
If you would like to serve others in a practical way, preparation for the Tuesday ministry starts with picking up the bulk food and hot meals. Around 5pm we start setting up the serving stations and tables and chairs. At 6pm we have our prayer service. At 6:30 we serve the meal and do the paperwork for the bulk food giveaway. At 7:30, or when all guests have gone, we clean up. Clean up entails cleaning the tables, serving areas, and kitchen, putting the tables and chairs away, and mopping the floor. We are generally done by 8 pm. The street crew returns shortly after that. So, we are here from about 4pm to 8pm. We welcome you to assist us for the whole time, or any portion of that time.
I'm excited that we will be a feeding station this Thanksgiving and Christmas. Last Christmas fell on a Tuesday, and it was a moving experience. If you can't donate the time in our area right now, perhaps you can help on those holidays.
